➤ What do Medicare Supplement plans cover?
They cover some or all of the out-of-pocket costs Original Medicare leaves behind, such as the Part A deductible, hospital coinsurance, Part B coinsurance and, in some plans, excess charges and foreign travel emergencies. Benefits depend on the plan letter.
➤ Are Medigap benefits the same with every insurer?
Yes. Plans are standardized by letter, so a Plan G from any insurer has the same benefits. Price, rate history, discounts and customer service differ between companies, and Massachusetts, Minnesota and Wisconsin use their own standardized designs.
➤ Does Medigap cover the Part B deductible?
Only Plans C and F, which are available only to people first eligible for Medicare before January 1, 2020. Plan G covers everything Plan F does except the Part B deductible, which was $283 in 2026, so most new enrollees pay that deductible themselves.
➤ Does Medigap cover prescription drugs?
No. Medigap does not include drug coverage. You need a separate Part D plan, bought from any insurer you choose; for 2027 the maximum Part D deductible is $700 and the out-of-pocket cap on covered drugs is $2,400.
➤ Does Medigap cover dental, vision or hearing?
No. Medigap does not cover routine dental, routine vision, eyeglasses or hearing aids, because Original Medicare does not. Many people add a standalone dental or vision policy, or use discount programs, to fill these gaps alongside their supplement.
➤ Does Medigap cover care outside the U.S.?
Plans C, D, F, G, M and N include a foreign travel emergency benefit that pays 80% of emergency care after a $250 deductible, up to $50,000 lifetime. Plans A, B, K and L do not.
➤ Does Medigap cover long-term care?
No. Medigap does not cover long-term custodial care in a nursing home or at home. It may help with skilled nursing facility coinsurance during a Medicare-covered stay, depending on the plan letter you choose.
➤ What does Plan N cover?
Plan N covers Part B coinsurance except up to $20 for some office visits and up to $50 for ER visits that do not lead to admission. It does not cover the Part B deductible or excess charges.
➤ What is High-Deductible Plan G?
It is a version of Plan G with a yearly deductible, $3,050 for 2027, before the plan pays. Premiums are usually lower than standard Plan G, which can suit healthy people who can handle the deductible.
